In 2018 I was lucky enough to complete a week of training with the British Horological Institute and spent a fascinating time learning the servicing & repair of manual winding watches. This helped me in the construction of the Time Bug series. I find the variety of colour, shape and form in the insect world astounding. If I was to try to imagine a creature from this world I know I couldn’t dream up anything as vivid and outlandish as the insects and beetles that already exist. I use the Time Bug series to explore the historical origins of time measurement, the relationship to manufacturing and the concepts of time - given, saved, wasted and spent - so subsumed in our day to day lives. I can provide a one to one workshop covering the basics of creating your own Time Bug from a watch movement, please contact me for more information.
